Husband breaks car mirror with axe

-

A St. Catharines man who used an axe to break a side mirror on his wife’s vehicle received a discharge Monday after pleading guilty to a charge of mischief. David McCready, 47, caused about $500 damage to the car on April 21. Judge Tory Colvin was told on Monday in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines that the damage took place shortly after 9 p.m. when McCready’s wife pulled into the driveway after returning home from work. Defence lawyer Brenda Sandulak said the couple has been together for about 20 years. They had been bickering earlier in the day and alcohol was a factor. “He had a momentary lapse in judgment,” said Sandulak, who asked for a discharge noting that a conviction would cause problems for her client.
