Through the lens, beautifully
Amy Holloway Photography captures the remarkable
Apicture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes. And a few well-crafted photos on social media, company website, newsletter or quarterly reports go a long way in projecting a professional image.
Helping clients put their best visual foot forward is the mission at Amy Holloway Photography. Holloway launched the Middleton-based business five years ago and the range of clients is vast, including companies of all sizes, multi-level marketers and business associations.
“It’s about photographing people with a passion for what they’re doing so they can share that with their audience,” Holloway says.
Business branding is particularly important in the social media age, she adds. Branding is about telling a story that engages with your target audience while building genuine relationships with your ideal clients. Quality images will have an impact with readers and viewers and give potential customers an idea of what to expect.
“It’s different from product photography,” Holloway points out. “Business is about relationships and customers want to feel comfortable with the people they are buying from.”
When it comes to posting on social media, Holloway puts a new twist on an old quote: “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing poorly.”
For those with perfectionist tendencies, or who struggle to follow through on goals and projects, the ideal of always “doing it well” can be daunting. Posting on social media imperfectly or inconsistently is better that not posting at all, Holloway says.
“Give yourself a break. You don’t have to be the world’s best social media marketer,” she says. “You don’t have to be posting on Instagram three times a week and sharing every story of your life.”
Family lifestyle photography
is another specialty for Holloway. Every stage of life has its own irreplaceable memories and capturing those moments creates precious family heirlooms. The first few weeks of a newborn’s life, for example, with the little expressions, wisps of hair and
tiny fingers speak of rapid change and of moments that will never come again.
Whatever the age or number of family members involved, Holloway will take the time to get to know her clients and the session will have a relaxing vibe. Family members can go about their routine with a few prompts about positioning and groupings, designed to capture those unguarded and nonposed moments.
“We will chat while I’m getting the equipment ready,” Holloway says. “I will get to know a bit about them – where they are from and what they like to do. If I want someone to smile it will be much more genuine if we’re talking about something that makes them joyful. Then I can capture those moments when they don’t even realize I am doing it.”
Whether helping a business build its brand or capturing precious moments with family members, Holloway constantly strives to capture through her lens the things that are truly remarkable.
“I am passionate about empowering people to see themselves in a positive light,” Holloway says. “I strongly believe that everyone should have the chance to see what is beautiful about them.”
