Third World and Morgan Heritage
A double-bill of two heavyweight reggae groups. Third World’s popular 96 Degrees in the Shade album was released in 1977. Today, with veteran cabaret act AJ Brown as the band’s frontman (replacing Bunny Rugs, who died last year), the group continues to mix pop and soul with more traditional reggae sounds. Morgan Heritage, often referred to as the Royal Family of Reggae, just dropped its 10th album, Strictly Roots. While roots reggae remains the sibling band’s mantra, some of the new fusion of pop and dance hall should get fans to their feet.
