MAN, 79, SURVIVES VIOLENT COLLISION WITH MASSIVE WHALE

-

A 79-year-old Newfoundland man said he was convinced he was going to drown in Trinity Bay this week when his son’s boat hit a surfacing whale and almost capsized. Tony Morgan said he was tossed overboard when the six-metre craft hit the 40-tonne humpback. Morgan said he wasn’t wearing a lifejacket and his boots filled with water as he sank. “I wasn’t making no headway,” he said. Morgan recalled seeing a vision of his brother, Jerry, who died a few years ago. “He must have pushed me up out of the water,” he said.
