Cramped workspace
Eternity Martis’s online piece (“Why Canada Needs Paid Menstrual Leave,” thewalrus. ca) makes the case for instituting a national policy that would offer female employees who experience debilitating periods three days’ paid leave every month. On the one hand, our periods can be crippling and make working an eighthour day particularly brutal. But on the other hand, such a policy could become another sexist reason to bar women from opportunities in the workforce. A more practical option would be to enforce better sick-day policies for every employee across the board.
