Power trip
Cam Sylvester is right that adding more car-charging stations on our roads and highways is crucial to the feasibility of driving an electric vehicle across Canada (“No Cars Go,” September). But anyone discussing this topic also needs to consider how the required electricity is generated. The absence of tailpipe emissions doesn’t necessarily mean that no pollution is being produced. Depending on where I plug my electric vehicle in, I could be driving a wind-powered car, a nuclearpowered car, or even a coal-powered car. Let’s clear up those uncertainties before we dwell on travel convenience.
