In the Soil festival replants itself downtown St. Catharines
It’s time to add a splash of colour and music to the season.
In The Soil arts festival promises fun for all age groups as its seventh annual celebration of the arts is about to get underway.
The hub of the festival will be James St. in St. Catharines and it will off er a long list of events from April 24 to 26.
Visitors can look forward to live music and theatre, poetry and literary events and family- friendly programs, said Deanna Jones, the festival’s artistic director.
A Vendor Bender will showcase goods with support from the new Craft Arts Market store. Zuppa Th eatre Co. from Halifax will also be an addition to the festival.
Daniel Burns, a Michelin threestar chef with Canadian roots, has partnered with Zuppa Th eatre Co. on a snack menu dining experience paired with a production of Plato’s Th e Symposium.
Jazz band Th e Worst Pop Band Ever is among featured entertainment.
Another attraction, said artistic producer Annie Wilson, will be a Brock University student planning to live in a fishbowl- type storefront environment for 72 hours during the festival.
Planning the festival has been a year- round affair. Jones said the non- profi t organization relies heavily on volunteers. Last year In Th e Soil relied on 148 volunteers.
