The Tenor with Niagara ties is back on the bill in St. Catharines.

Remigio Pereira, whose upcoming performance in the region was recently scrapped after a controversial O Canada moment, has been reinstated to the Oct. 6 show.

The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre announced Thursday the singer, who for many years lived in St. Catharines, would be gracing the stage alongside renowned guitarist Pavlo as originally planned.

Pereira was removed from the Guitarradas tour with the instrumental artist after changing the words to the Canadian national anthem, including addition of the phrase “All lives matter,” during a performance with his group the Tenors at Major League Baseball’s all-star game in San Diego.

He has again been invited to perform at the Brampton, Oshawa and Windsor shows, in addition to the local concert.

“The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre has always been excited by the collaboration of these two outstanding performers and we knew our audiences would be as well,” PAC executive director Steve Solski said in a news release. “We are thrilled that the show will continue as originally intended.”

Solski previously said the decision to pull Pereira from the show was made jointly between the venue and the agent overseeing the tour.

“Our interest is in sharing artistic excellence in all art forms from the highest calibre artists with our community. It is up to our audience members to choose who they wish to see perform,” PAC programming and marketing manager Sara Palmieri said in Thursday’s release.

Advance tickets for the show are already available to Hot Ticket members and will go on sale to the general public Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.

Solski did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday.
