- TRIBUNE STAFF

Author Craig Davidson will be reading from his new novel Thursday as the Canadian Authors Series continues at Roselawn Centre in Port Colborne. Precious Cargo: My Year of Driving

the Kids on School Bus 3077 is a humorous memoir about a year spent driving a bus transporting children with special needs. It was published last year by Knopf Canada.

His previous novel set in Niagara Falls called Cataract City earned Davidson a Giller Prize nomination, while an earlier novel called Rust and Bone was made into a Golden Globenominated film.

Authors for March 30 and April 27 dates will be announced during Thursday’s reading.

Meanwhile, there has been a change in the lineup of authors as the series continues.

Carol Off, an award-winning television and radio journalist, was scheduled for May. However, publication of her new book, When Home Won’t Let You Stay: A Reporter’s Journey Into the Lives of Others, has been delayed and she will instead be participating instead in the fall.

In her place, Heather O’Neill will be reading from her newly released book, The Lonely Hearts Hotel, for the May 25 instalment of the author’s series.

In addition to the presentations by the authors followed by question and answer and a book signing, readings includes a 7 p.m. reception with wine and appetizers and live music.

Tickets are $30 each, available by calling organizer Putzy Madronich at 905-788-5345, at www.thecanadianauthorsseries.ca, or through the organization’s Facebook site.
