Suspected flasher arrested in St. Catharines

Niagara Regional Police arrested a 54-year-old man Tuesday, after responding to reports of a flasher near the Best Western Value Inn in St. Catharines. Police say they responded to the hotel at 420 Ontario St. at about 6:15 p.m., after receiving complaints that on two separate occasions a man was in the area with his pants down, exposing his genitals. The suspect had left the area prior to police arrival. As a result of the police investigat­ion, Peter Clifford of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with two counts of indecent act. Police are asking witnesses or anyone with informatio­n to contact investigat­ors at 905-688-4111 ext. 4286. The event is being held to help families in the community get ready for back to school. It will also help out with the upcoming Snacks ’n’ Sneakers Day Needed items include juice boxes, pudding cups, fruit snacks and cups and granola bars. Snacks ’n’ Sneakers Day is Wednesday, Aug. 23, at The Hope Centre, 570 King St., and is in partnershi­p with Canadian Tire Financial Services and Jumpstart. The two organizati­ons provide funds for shoes to give away to children of eligible families the community and is in its third year. It’s open to boys and girls aged four to 18 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parents must bring proof of income, proof of address and ID for all household members. their 19th annual show and shine Sunday. The event is on the grounds of the Kinsmen Scout Hall on King Street, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It also features a barbecue, music from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, and beer and wine. For people entering the show, gates open at 8 a.m. Registrati­on for vehicles is $10. There is a $3 fee for spectators.Children under 12 years of age are free. Proceeds go to Kinsmen community projects.
