Grid Generals return home with win
Lucas Hazelton and Justin Savoie rushed for touchdowns and the offensive line shared the game ball as the Niagara Generals tamed the York Lions 23-21 in Ontario Football League peewee action.
Jack Wilson, on the receiving end of quarterback Jayden Gurzi-MacDonald’s first touchdown pass of the season, also found the end zone for the visitors in Saturday’s game in Aurora.
Ryan Broome added a threepoint convert and David Robinson a two-point safety to round out the scoring for the Generals who improved to 1-2 in league play.
“Our much-improved offensive line play by Aiden Pelechaty, Landon Tracey, Eric Vaughan, Darius Best, Nathan Allen, Thomas Alexander and Andrew Tavano were able to pave the way for two rushing touchdowns,” Niagara coach Jim Storin said.
He also praised the offensive line for giving Gurzi-MacDonald enough protection to complete the scoring strike to Wilson.
Outcome was in doubt until Wyatt Bezuyen and Wyatt Brown teamed up for Niagara to make the final tackle of the game on the Generals one-yard line.

Hunter Gray scored three touchdowns and David VanSoelen kicked a one-point convert, but it wasn’t enough as Hamilton edged visiting Niagara in tyke division action.

At Scarborough, Benjamin Tsanoff was hailed as Niagara’s outstanding player after he recovered a fumble for the Generals only touchdown in atom football.
Tsanoff also accumulated yards on offence for Niagara.
J.J. Domicile converted the touchdown for the Generals.
Ryan Adams anchored a Niagara defence that limited an aggressive Scarborough team to two touchdowns.
