Piledriver’s Jason Pendelbury following in footsteps of Niagara 5-pin hall of fame father

- JEFF STEVENS

Jason Pendlebury is coming into his own in the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League, which is only natural as he comes from good stock.

His father David was inducted into the Niagara 5-Pin Hall of Fame last season and junior, who is last year’s Vi Fortier Memorial Trophy winner, had the night of his life as he blistered the lanes for a 867 (248, 365, 254) to lead the Crossfire Wrestling Piledrivers to a 2-1 win over the Host Pub & Grill Half Pints.

Chantal Papineau provided backup for the winners with a steady 735 (241, 224, 270).

The Half Pints replied with Norm Stup’s 673 (296) and Tim Dixon’s 631 (239).

Meanwhile Ontario and Niagara 5-pin hall of famer Paul Asselin broke out and had his best night of the young season, tossing 814 (239, 252, 323) to spark the Ravens to a 2-1 win over the Wine Place Whiners.

Asselin had help from P.J. Cole’s 631 (244, 242).

On the women’s side, Valerie Vallee matched the younger Pendleury’s effort, firing a super 867 (284, 270, 313) to lead the Whiners, while being pushed along by Wilma Vanderzwaag’s 696 (230, 236).

The Lakeside Electrical Lightning had a total team effort as they blanked the Canucks 3-0.

Tyler Wendel led the way for the winners with a solid 765 (254, 250, 261) while getting support from Jeff Stevens’ 756 (240, 321), Dave Pendlebury’s 720 (260, 263) and Fern French who rounded things out with 703 (224, 291).

The Canucks answered with Rob Fisher’s 703 (219, 279) and Rob MacDonald who added 673 (235, 232).

In the evening’s final match, the Town Criers took two of three from the Pepperonis. Sara Kennedy continued her fantastic rookie season, leading the Town Criers with a sparkling 793 (233, 257, 303) while getting help from Chris Disher’s 666 (327).

The Pepperonis fought back with Brian McFarlane’s 722 (246, 293).
