Rookie bowler on a roll

Rob MacDonald hasn’t taken long to get comfortabl­e in his rookie season in the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League.

MacDonald put together his best night of the young season as he scorched the lanes for a fantastic 854 (249, 299, 306) series to spark the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks to a 2-1 win over the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints.

MacDonald was supported by Rob Fisher’s steady 745 (236, 227, 282).

The Half Pints replied with Shawn Pellizari’s 738 (241, 268) while Tim Dixon followed closely with 731 (234, 281) and Norm Stup rounded things out with 712 (220, 283).

In other matches, Jason Pendlebury continued his torrid pace as he lit up the lanes yet again, with the night’s best individual performanc­e, a stellar 881 (303, 310, 268), to lead the Crossfire Wrestling Piledriver­s to a 2-1 win over the Lakeside Electrical Lightning.

Pendlebury had help from Frank Newman’s 755 (244, 245, 266).

The Lightning shot back with Dave Pendlebury’s solid 758 (343, 216) and Tyler Wendel, who added 728 (288, 227).

The Wine Place Whiners took two of three from the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic as Wilma Vanderzwaa­g took the reins for the winners tossing an excellent 751 (222, 274, 255) while being aided by Trish Aubertin’s 706 (203, 306) and Valerie Vallee who followed closely with 703 (226, 286).

The Magic answered with Brian McFarlane’s 695 (220, 273).

In the evening’s final match Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers knocked off the Reggie’s Renovation­s Ltd. Hammerhead­s 2-1.

Chris Disher paced the Town Criers with a fine 795 (276, 268, 251) while Sara Kennedy pitched in with 727 (267, 268) and Wendy Bonnette was right behind with 721 (229, 275).

The Hammerhead­s were led by Paul Asselin, who broke the 800 barrier for the fourth week in a row, rolling a steady 804 289, 261, 254) while P.J. Cole contribute­d 681 (296, 221) in the loss.
