Free speech is a right

-

Re: Anti-abortion protest law bogged down by politics, opinion column by David Reevely, Oct. 19

The writer is correct that this law is only about politics and a coming provincial election.

The Liberals’ Protecting a Woman’s Right to Access Abortion Services Act is a pro-abortion law. Peaceful pro-life campaigns have been offering information and compassion to women at abortion facilities for many years.

The information regarding the abortion procedure and the development of the fetus has helped many women make an informed choice, and when the choice is for life the abortion facility is losing business.

The Ottawa facility complaining about the protests outside their door does not have one official complaint to police because there is nothing to complain about, except business is slow when women choose life. So they complain to pro-abortion politicians, and with a coming election we get a grandstand event about which political party is more pro-abortion than the next.

We live in a province where free speech is a right, and bubble zones should not exist.
