Welland offers free downtown parking for Random Acts of Kindness Day

Friday is a chance to park for free in all of Welland’s downtown lots during its second observance of Random Acts of Kindness Day.

“Council wants to acknowledg­e ( Random Acts of Kindness Day) and pay it forward to residents and visitors with compliment­ary parking,” Welland Mayor Frank Campion said in a media release. During the day, parking will be free at the following lots, which usually only allow pay- and- display or metered parking: courthouse parking lot, behind the courthouse parking lot, behind Welland Civic Square and both Welland Fire and Emergency Services parking lots behind the Blue Star restaurant and beside Cool Licks.

Random Acts of Kindness Day encourages everyone to spread goodwill to fellow residents and community members. was arrested by Ontario Provincial Police Monday, Niagara Regional Police said in a news release. He remains in custody for both parole violations and arrest warrants for a series of bank robberies in Nova

Scotia and New Brunswick, the NRP said.

On Saturday police responded just past 10: 30 a. m. to the Bank of Montreal at 6760 Morrison St. in Niagara Falls. A male had entered the bank and attended the teller wicket to demand cash. He fled the bank and had been last seen on Morrison

Street.

No one was injured during the crime. Police later identified their suspect as Gorsline.

Charges against Gorsline were not identified in the NRP media release, and any have yet to be proven in court.
