28 charges laid in gunfire incident in Niagara Falls

A vehicle chase in Niagara Falls, in which the occupants of one vehicle were allegedly using an air rifle to shoot at the vehicle they pursued, has resulted in 28 criminal charges being laid against three teens. Niagara Regional Police responded to the area of Garner Road and Lundy’s Lane just before 8 p. m. on Tuesday after receiving several reports of one vehicle pursuing another while one of the occupants was firing what appeared to be a gun.

A police investigat­ion led to the location of a suspect vehicle and the arrest of three people in a Niagara Falls parking lot at 10: 20 p. m.

Police say they seized an air soft rifle that bore a strong resemblanc­e to a real assault rifle, a prohibited knife, and a quantity of Xanax and other prescripti­on pills, as well as currency. Zachary Harris, 18, of Niagara Falls is faces 10 charges including disguise with intent, pointing a firearm, use of an imitation firearm in commission of an offence, dischargin­g an air gun with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of proceeds of crime valued at under $ 5,000, carrying a concealed weapon and dangerous driving.

Two 16- year- olds, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, also face charges including disguise with intent, pointing a firearm, use of an imitation firearm in commission of offence, dischargin­g an air gun with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of traffickin­g and possession of proceeds of crime valued at under $ 5.000.

One of the 16- year- olds also faces a count of carrying a concealed weapon and unauthoriz­ed possession of a prohibited weapon.
