5- pin bowler ends ’ 17 on a roll

- JEFF STEVENS

Rob Fisher has already topped the 900 plateau this season in the Niagara 5- Pin Mixed Pro League, rolling a 912 earlier in the year.

However, Fisher ended his 2017 on the lanes in fine fashion, tossing a superb 902 ( 275, 234, 393) series to lead the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks to a 3- 0 blanking of the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints.

Fisher was helped along by Shawn Pellizari’s 719 ( 222, 264).

Not to be outdone, the Half Pints’ reply was led by Matt Kowalyk who rolled 839 ( 230, 204, 405).

Kowalyk’s 405 and Fisher’s 393 are the top two singles in the league so far this season.

In another whitewashing, the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers took all three games against the Wine Place Whiners.

The Town Criers were led by P. J. Cole’s 740 ( 228, 307), Chris Disher’s 720 ( 231, 232, 257) and Fern French who rounded out the scoring with 704 ( 239, 242).

The Whiners shot back with John Wendel’s 683 ( 256, 214) and Rich Vassos’ 644, 224, 237).

The Crossfire Wrestling Piledrivers were also in a giving mood as they delivered a 3- 0 shutout over the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic.

The Piledrivers were sparked by Chantal Papineau ( 290, 259) and Brian McFarlane ( 248, 302), who tossed matching 743 sets, while getting help from Mike Owen’s 721 ( 225, 280).

The Magic answered with Joanne Durocher’s 662 ( 268, 202) and Dave Pendlebury who added 651 ( 246, 218).

In the evening’s final match, also the closest, decided by only 44 pins, the Reggie’s Renovations Inc.

Hammerheads shaded the Lakeside Electrical Lightning 2- 1.

Jeff Stevens paced the Hammerheads with 772 ( 280, 229, 263) and was aided by Frank Newman’s 743 ( 306, 240) and Wilma Vanderzwaag’s steady 729 ( 242, 230, 257).

The Lightning returned fire with Tyler Wendel’s 793 ( 296, 217, 280) and Norm Stup’s 639 ( 200, 245).
