-

Stephanie Hicks, who has been credited with revitalizing the Welland Downtown BIA, is leaving for a position in another municipality.

Hicks, who worked for the BIA as its executive director for the past three years, said in a release that working for the BIA has changed her “personal and professional life.” “It has been an amazing three years in downtown Welland and I cannot thank ( enough) the community, the city, my incredible board and most importantly the downtown members for the experience, guidance and support,” she said. Dolorese Wright, the BIA chair, praised Hicks for “her expertise and vivacious, caring personality,” and said she has been a “valuable and well- respected member” of the Downtown Welland BIA team.

“Her leadership and professionalism with members, community leaders; her development and management of events and her continual belief and passion for this community has provided the board and its membership with a revitalized BIA,” said Wright.

In the media release Hicks said she will be performing similar work in another community — she did not say where. The community is invited to say goodbye to Hicks at the BIA office at 195 East Main St. on Feb. 2 at 2 p. m. People can also meet with her at the Vegan Hippie Chick restaurant located in the same building.

Hicks’ last day is Feb. 2.
