Chiropractor donating Feb. 14 to good cause
Dr. David Salanki is again dedicating Valentine’s Day to helping patients and donating to a good cause.
Salanki, of Chiropractic Associates of Port Colborne, gave a presentation to Port Colborne council on Monday night about Doctors With a Heart.
It was started by a dentist in 1986 and gives people the opportunity to book a free appointment with participating doctors in exchange for a monetary or item donations to the charity the office has chosen to support.
“Our patients get really enthusiastic,” he told council about how people respond to the day.
Today Salanki’s office is waiving consultation, examination, treatment and X- ray fees. Instead of the usual fee, the office will be collecting donations for Welland and District Humane Society. This is the sixth year in a row it is supporting the humane society.
He highlighted the recent case of the humane society taking in more than 100 cats from a Welland residence as an example of the good work the humane society does.
In the past, the practice has raised thousands of dollars in donations.
Not only can current patients take advantage of today’s free appointments, but so can others who might not otherwise have the opportunity to see a chiropractor regularly.
People are seen on a first- come, first- served basis, however, so it’s recommended that people call ahead of time. Appointments take place between 8 a. m. and 6 p. m. People can call the office at 905- 835- 1303.
Salanki told council that money and other donations will be accepted and given to the humane society, but there are some specific items to keep in mind. Canned pet food for dogs and cats of all ages, blankets, cat cases, dog and cat cleansing products and flea prevention products are needed.
