ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Niagara College athletes of the week Courtney Smith and David Cressman are Alberta bound. Smith, vice on the Knights women’s curling team, and Cressman, lead on the men’s team, were standouts on rinks that returned home from the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association ( OCAA) championships in Sault Ste. Marie with medals.

The women won gold and the men bronze.

Smith, a protection, security and investigations customs major from St. Catharines, is in her fifth, and final, year of post- secondary eligibility. She previously attended Brock University.

Cressman, a Cobourg native, earned male athlete of the week honours after helping Niagara to an 8- 6 victory over Humber in the bronze medal final. He was named a first- team all- star at the provincial championships.
