Niagara Health looking for volunteers

-

Niagara Health is looking for volunteers with excellent interpersonal skills and who enjoy comforting others to volunteer at our sites across the region.

New volunteers will join 850 people already helping to provide extraordinary caring to patients and their families.

“We have an amazing collection of volunteers who come from all walks of life — retirees, newcomers to the community, high school, college and university students and business professionals, to name a few,” says Pauline Caroll, Niagara Health volunteer co- ordinator.

“Whether it’s visiting some of our patients, assisting with mealtimes, helping out in our emergency departments or working our information desks, our volunteers are an integral part of Niagara Health.”

Volunteers help to raise money through gift shops, lottery ticket sales and other ways that support Niagara Health Foundation and hospital auxiliaries.

“Volunteering offers people the chance to make a difference in the lives of our patients and to give back to the community,” says Tracey Giovannone, manager of recruitment and volunteer services. “For others, it provides an opportunity to develop new skills, meet new people or it can provide a sense of accomplishment. Regardless of the motivation, what unites them all is that they find it rewarding and our volunteers take great pleasure in helping others.”

More information on volunteering at Niagara Health is available by calling 905- 3784647 ext 44630 or emailing volunteer@ niagarahealth. on. ca. There is also a volunteer page on the Niagara Health website: www. niagarahealth. on. ca/ site/ volunteer- resources.
