Rowers make a splash indoors

St. Catharines was indoor rowing central last weekend.

Upwards of 700 athletes raced against the clock hoping to better personal best times at the Ontario Ergometer Championsh­ips.

For many club and high school rowers, the one-day event held Saturday at Ridley College was the final tune-up before hitting the water to begin training for the spring.

Athletes came from as far as Ottawa to compete in 2,000-metre races on indoor rowing machines.

Participan­ts were divided in 18 divisions.

Following are the top five finishers in each division at the Ontario Ergometer Championsh­ips held at Ridley College:
