Niagara Falls Comic Con has just booked its largest-ever celebrity, as World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Big Show will be choke slamming his way to the Honeymoon Capital.

Chris Dabrowski, co-owner of the popular annual event, said this will be Big Show’s first appearance at Niagara Falls Comic Con and he believes his first appearance ever at a Canadian comic con.

“It’s definitely a rare announcement,” he said.

Reminiscent of legendary Goliaths such as the late Andre the Giant, Big Show weighs 383 pounds, wears a 22 EEEEE size shoe, boasts a 64-inch chest and is billed at a height of seven feet.

He made quite the impression in his professional in-ring debut in 1995 when, then known as The Giant, he defeated Hulk Hogan for the World Championship Wrestling world heavyweight championship.

Big Show, billed as The World’s Largest Athlete, moved on to WWE in 1999, where he captured a giant collection of titles, including the WWE championship.

He is the first superstar to capture the WWE, WCW and Extreme Championship Wrestling championships, and won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31.

“He’s definitely one of the more relevant, modern-day wrestlers that we have, but his career goes back to the mid-’90s in WCW and he’s really the modern-day Andre the Giant in my opinion,” said Dabrowski.

“He’s definitely the biggest superstar athlete that we’ve ever had at comic con. I think he’s a spectacle just to see the size of the Big Show.”

Big Show joins Ric Flair; Rey Mysterio; Trish Stratus; Lita; Greg Valentine; and Brutus Beefcake as the wrestling legends booked for this year’s Niagara Falls Comic, scheduled to take place June 1-3 at Scotiabank Convention Centre.

Big Show is slated to appear June 2.

“We’re spanning generations and generations of wrestling and wrestlers and I think we’ll attract a pretty large wrestling crowd,” said Dabrowski.

“It’s a great market here in Niagara Falls and people close to Hamilton, Toronto and of course Buffalo and Rochester, which are big wrestling markets, I think it bodes well for our show.”

He said the seventh edition of comic con is on pace to be the biggest one yet.

“Based on current ticket sales, we’re exceeding last year’s numbers already and we see that continuing, so definitely we look at this as our biggest year yet.”

Dabrowski said the list of celebrities scheduled to appear could still grow.

“We’re waiting on a guest that we’ve been trying to book for years. He’s currently filming a TV show, so we’re waiting to hear back on his schedule. Sometimes the celebrity’s filming schedules dictate whether or not they’re available, but you never know, there could be another one.”
