Grenier looking for another term on regional council
Paul Grenier plans to focus on enhancing regional services for the residents of Welland during the next four years, rather than finger-pointing and accusations.
The Welland regional councillor registered as a candidate Tuesday, hoping voters re-elect him on Oct. 22.
“Representing Welland at the Region is not about finger-pointing or scurrilous accusations,” he said in a media release announcing his re-election bid.
“There is ongoing tough work to be done: Building the resiliency of our community takes work, open mindedness, and determination. I’m committed to strengthening Welland’s connections to realize our local and regional potential,” he said.
Grenier said the city has seen transit and road work enhancements since he was first elected to the job in 2014. However, he added, there is room for improvement regarding ambulance, housing and policing services.
Grenier said he previously served as a Ward 3 city councillor in Welland, with 11 years of perfect attendance during the three terms he served in that role.
At the time, he represented the community through leadership roles with various provincial organizations, helping create connections for the community at the provincial level.
“I’m on the front-lines of building those connections,” he said.
