Strategy session for municipal candidates
Candidates running in the October municipal election are invited to a full-day training session run by The Institute for Change Leaders.
Sponsored by A Better Niagara, the training day on June 16 will focus on how candidates can tell their stories to persuade and motivate others, recruit and train volunteers, structure their team of leaders for growth, as well as strategize and choose tactics that build power and move decision makers.
The Institute for Change Leaders employs the training methods developed by Harvard professor Marshall Ganz, the organizing strategist behind Barack Obama’s winning presidential campaigns.
Olivia Chow, founder of the Institute for Change Leaders, will lead the training session with a team of Ganz-trained facilitators.
Chow is a former Toronto city councillor and former Member of Parliament, as well as a distinguished visiting professor at Ryerson University.
The event will be held Saturday, June 16, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. at Niagara College, Niagara-onthe-Lake campus. Tickets are $125. Early bird pricing is available for people who register before May 15. Lunch will be provided and babysitting is available on request.
