New medical clinic coming to Pelham

Pelham will see a new health and medical centre with up to 10 physicians of varying specialties in East Fonthill by summer 2019, the town said in a release.

“This medical centre will enhance the quality of life for all our residents,” said Mayor Dave Augustyn, in a release from the town.

“Improving our community by bringing these much-needed services is part of council’s vision and we’re excited to complement Fonthill in ways that benefit the entire community.”

The town said it signed an agreement to sell nearly two acres of land to a team led by Christina Dobsi of Dobsi Medical and David Kompson, a longtime developer in the Niagara Region, and working with Greg Chew of Collier’s International.

The town said the development group anticipates 20,000 to 35,000 square feet of Class A space to accommodate medical and health and wellness professionals, along with some retail. It will include eight-to-10 physicians with various specialties.

“Pelham continues to experience smart and steady population growth and the demand for this beautiful area shows no signs of abating,” Dobsi said.

“We see this project as one that delivers a professional health and medical hub that will draw family physicians, medical specialists, and other health-related services to the community. We’ll be accommodating top providers of all health, medical and wellness services within one beautiful legacy building.”

The group said it believes the synergies created by the centre will benefit residents, patients, and practitioners and currently has a portion of the building under lease by a variety of top allied medical professionals.

Plans call for the medical centre to be completed by summer 2019.
