Art Crawl will see first-ever art competition
Artists will battle the clock as they work to create a masterpiece in 20 minutes at Port Colborne’s annual Art Crawl this June.
The new art competition will see the crowd vote on a winner, with a public auction selling all the paintings to follow, said event organizer Elizabeth Madronich in a release.
Proceeds from the sale will be donated to art scholarships for the local high schools.
Art Crawl takes place Saturday, June 23, on West Street from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Streets will be alive with visual art, exhibitors, demonstrations, hands-on activities and live music.
Merchants will stay open later, so visitors can shop throughout the evening and most restaurants will have some form of live music, Madronich said.
This year features a children’s area with a bounce house, facepainting, interactive activities, a scavenger hunt for all age, and more.
Bring a yoga mat and join Liz Freitas as she instructs community yoga on the lawn beside the Welland Canal
This year’s musicians include Katey Gatta, Brandon Ruch, Mark Clout, Christopher Madronich (Gravely James), Niels Pedersen, Karen Bonnisteel, Michael Metzger, Sing Niagara women’s chorus, Three For All women’s trio, folk duo Probable Fog and The Hard Rock Hooligans. Artists have until today to apply to be a part of the event, they can email pcartcrawl@gmail.com for an application or go to Andies Gallery and Boutique, 224 West St., to pick up a paper copy.
