Sex assault reported in the Falls

Niagara police are investigat­ing after a 42-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted in Niagara Falls over the weekend.

On July 10, the victim reported the incident to police, prompting the investigat­ion by detectives in the sexual assault unit. The investigat­ion has determined that on July 7 at about 10:30 p.m., the woman had an interactio­n with an unknown man in the area of Gladstone Avenue and Spring Street. As the woman attempted to walk away, the man sexually assaulted her. He then ran off.

He is described as black, 24 to 25 years old, 5-foot-10 inches to six feet tall with a skinny build. He had short black curly hair and was wearing a white T-shirt and shorts and shoes of unknown colour. He may have been wearing a hat, police say.
