CAPORICCI, Letizia (nee Giangasper­o)

Passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Damiano Caporicci. Loving mother of Guy (Terry) and Joe (Chris). Cherished Nonni of Bryan (Allison), Robb (Shanon), Joe, Kimmy (Chris) and Jimmy. Loving Great-Nonni to Ava, Ben and Andrew. Dear sister of Carmelina DiLazzaro, Nella Anania and Vince Giangasper­o. Dear sister-in-law of Lydia Giangasper­o. She will lovingly be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predecease­d by her sister-in-law Angelina Caporicci and brothers-in-law Alfredo DiLazzaro, Ralph Anania and Leo Caporicci.

Letizia was born October 7, 1936 in Provvident­i, Campo Basso, Italy and came to Canada in 1954 to make her home in Welland with her husband. She loved her flowers, cooking, traveling, and learning new things, but her greatest love was her family. Nothing made her happier than having family gathered for a meal. She was loved by everyone she touched and will be forever remembered for her smile, uplifting spirit, kind heart, selflessne­ss and her pasta and meatballs. After raising her family, Letizia found joy working at Mitchell’s Ladies Wear, sharing her keen fashion sense with her customers. Letizia was an active member and volunteer of the St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. She was social convenor of the Rosary Society for 20 years, Eucharisti­c Minister and she put her cooking skills to work in the kitchen. Letizia was also a volunteer at the Welland Community Wellness Complex for many years.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Niagara Palliative Care Team, especially Dr. D. Dooler, Sue Campbell, NP and nurses Shari and Prince for their compassion and care during this difficult time. A heartfelt thanks to Father Mirek Olszewski who took the time to visit Letizia in her home to continue to provide the spiritual support that was so important to her and which brought her comfort.
