NAMESTNIK, Andrija

On August 8, 2018, we said goodbye to the head of the Namestnik Family. Andrija (Andy) Namestnik was born December 13, 1944 in Obrankovec, Croatia and led his family to Canada. Andrija passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, knowing that he had done a fantastic job raising and guiding his family and that they would carry on his legacy. He was a family man and an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Andrija is predeceased by his parents, Tomo and Dora Namjesnik, his sister Katica and her husband Drago Vranic and his brother-in-law Nick Rozic. He is survived by his loving wife, Danica Namestnik, his children Ljubica (Branko) Novak and Tomislav Namestnik (Christie), his grandchildren Nicky, Natalie, Luca, Ayla, Anya and Riley. Also survived by his sisters Ljubica Risek (Joe) and Dragica Vukovic (Marko), his sister-in-law, Zlata Rozic, brother-in-law Peter (Barbara) Zivcic and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives in Canada and Croatia. Andrija worked for Elmwood Kitchens until retirement and enjoyed his time fishing, visiting family in Croatia and Thunder Bay, being with family and enjoying good sljivovica. Mr. Namestnik is at Butler Funeral Home at 424 Niagara St., St. Catharines where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Vigil prayer for Andrija will be held at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony Parish 360 River Road, Welland, on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Anthony Parish would be appreciated by the family.
