Clean up our own backyard

-

When I was a consultant to a large company, they “listened” to my advice. But then I became a full-time employee. With that move I became the dumbest one in the room. A friend told me, you are in competition with them now for promotions. Put your idea on the table. Ask them what they think, let them buy into the idea to give them the impression this idea is partially theirs. Do not embarrass them.

We can learn from U.S. President Donald Trump that diplomacy is a slippery slope. Do we know what Trump and Russia President Vladimir Putin discussed in their private meeting? Only what either one wished to tell us. There was no condemnation. No insults.

Chrystia Freeland, our Minister of Foreign Affairs showed her lack of diplomatic skills. Perhaps texting should be banned from ministers’ phones.

A majority feel Saudi Arabia has human rights issues. Many other countries have human rights concerns. Are we going to challenge each of them publicly?

For years, thousands of Aboriginal children were sent to Indian residential schools funded by the federal government and run by churches. They were taken from families and communities in order to be stripped of language, cultural identity and traditions. Who amongst free world leaders is texting about this? Before we criticize others about their “human rights violations,” we should look at cleaning up our own backyard.
