Brian Baty
Age: 73
Occupation: Regional councillor
Family: Married to Elaine, with two sons, three grandchildren.
Previous political experience: I was first elected to regional council in 2003 and am now serving my fourth term.
Community work: Founding chair of Port Cares, founding chair of Port Colborne/Wainfleet Healthy Lifestyles Coalition, Pelham Active Transportation Committee, member of Port Colborne-Wainfleet Chamber of Commerce, member of Port Colborne-Wainfleet Community Futures Economic Development Corp., named honourary citizen of Port Colborne in 1995, church volunteer
Top issue: Fiscal accountability. The cost of everyday living is getting more expensive every day. I have supported an annual average of regional taxes of 1.47 per cent over term, including a tax freeze in 2016 to keep life affordable for residents of Pelham.
Why are you running?: My motivation has always been the community. Pelham deserves a strong and experienced voice to represent them at regional council.
Why should voters choose you?: I have served in major leadership roles in the region and the province through my career as an educator. I am a strong advocate for the community and work hard for the residents of Pelham.
