A year after they headlined the New Year’s Eve show in Niagara Falls, Marianas Trench are headed back to Niagara.

The Vancouver rock/pop band will bring its Suspending Gravity tour to Meridian Centre in St. Catharines March 15. It marks the second time the Vancouver band has played the arena, with their last visit in November 2016.

“We are excited to have Marianas Trench back in the building,” says Meridian Centre director of marketing Kay Meilleur. “They appeal to a bit younger audience who bring a really great, high energy vibe to the arena.”

The Juno-winning band released a new single, I Knew You When, last week. The band’s upcoming fifth album is still awaiting a release date.

Formed in 2001, the group has been one of Canada’s most successful rock bands of the past decade, winning the Juno for Group of the Year in 2013. They’re one of the few artists to make a return visit to the Meridian Centre since it opened in 2014. The venue has a concert seating capacity of 6,000.

The arena recently hosted shows by John Mellencamp, Tim Hicks and Stone Temple Pilots with Seether.

“We have had a couple of really busy months,” says Meilleur. “It’s been great to see the momentum we are gaining in our fourth year.”

The band’s 15-city tour kicks off March 6 in Windsor and continues to March 29 in Vancouver.

Tickets for the general public go on sale Nov. 30, 10 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.ca or www.marianastrench.net. Ticketmaster Verified Fan and VIP tickets go on sale Nov. 27, 10 a.m.
