- JEFF STEVENS

The Reggie’s Renovations Inc. Hammerheads got off to a good jump to open the second segment of the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League season, as they bounced the Lakeside Electrical Lightning 2-1.

Chris Disher paced the winners with a super 748 (204, 320, 224) while P.J. Cole followed closely with 735 (258, 226, 251).

Brad Gaudreau is settling nicely into his rookie season in the league. The Welland southpaw has quietly crept up the ladder in the men’s high average division as well as rolling some of the higher sets this season, and this week was no exception as he crafted a fantastic 865 (257, 300, 308), albeit in a losing cause, as his Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks dropped a close 2-1 decision to the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints.

In a match decided by 47 pins, Gaudreau was helped along by Brad Maurice’s 627 (209, 231).

The winning Half Pints were led by Shawn Pellizari’s excellent 787 (271, 223, 293) and Brian McFarlane, who added 731 (234, 237, 260).

Elsewhere, the Wine Place Whiners took two of three from the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers.

John Wendel had the hot hand for the Whiners tossing a solid 698 (244, 272), while getting pushed along by Mickey Pikor’s 681 (248, 245) and Rob Macdonald’s 666 (219, 253).

The Town Criers replied with Jordan Terry’s 686 (250, 233) and Kile Robins who tossed 646 (249, 205).

In the evening’s final match, the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic knocked off the Ontario Street Boston Pizza Brutes 2-1.

Dave Pendlebury took the reins for the winners firing a steady 692 (233, 2315, 244), while getting backup from Matt Vendittelli’s 622

(219, 215).

The Brutes fired back with Chantal Papineau’s solid 745 (279, 276).
