Mix and Mingle supports Welland Museum

- DAVE JOHNSON

People can support Welland Museum Friday by bidding on a piece of sports memorabilia, a chance to go skydiving, a Google Home device and more during a Mix and Mingle event.

“This is a fundraiser for the museum. This is our first attempt at an event like this,” said Katelynn Best, the museum’s archive and collections co-ordinator.

She said funds raised from a silent auction during the event will be used for children’s programming and for items the museum wants to add to its collection.

The Mix and Mingle event is for people 19 and older. Tickets are $10 each, which includes one free beverage. It runs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Best said a tapas menu is selling three items for $10.

The silent auction items, including signed football and hockey jerseys and photos, will be on display in the back of the museum and were donated by various business and community members.

The items are numbered and bids can be made in $5 increments. The silent auction ends on Dec. 8 at 4 p.m.

Best said guests can mix and mingle in the silent auction area or in among the exhibits during the evening.

Tickets can be reserved by calling the museum, 140 King St., at 905-732-2215, stopping in ahead of time or buying them at the door Friday night.
