WEST COAST RESIDENTS RECEIVE SENIORS OF DISTINCTION AWARDS
Doris Butt, of Corner Brook, and Patrick (Paddy) McNeil, of Pasadena, were recently presented with Seniors of Distinction Awards by the provincial government.
Butt’s volunteer contributions span the Atlantic provinces and include fundraising, church groups, sports teams, Girl Guides, and serving as a foster parent.
McNeil is retired from the RCMP and his commitment to the community includes both the formal and informal. During the COVID-19 pandemic he started Paddy’s Wagon Food Bank Pickup to collect food for the food bank.
Other recipients of the 2020 award include Lloyd Colbourne of Robert’s Arm; Rosemary Lester of Torbay; and Emma Reelis of St. John’s.

The mobile crisis response team includes a mental health-care worker, such as a social worker or registered nurse, and a police officer, who work together to respond to people in crisis.
The team is available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and can be accessed by calling the RNC at 637-4100, the RCMP in Corner Brook at 637-4433 and the RCMP in Deer Lake at 635-2173.
NOMINATE A HOMETOWN HERO IN STEPHENVILLE

Nominees could include health-care professionals, police officers or a really great neighbour who has helped people get through the COVID-19 pandemic. The division plans to post one Hometown
