Corner Brook woman spins big for $200,000 in lottery

-

What started off as a routine scratch ticket play of Atlantic Lottery Corporation’s new Mega 360 game quickly turned into a trip to the mainland and $200,000 for one Newfoundland woman.

Kim Gale, of Corner Brook, was part of the first batch of players trying their luck with the new Mega 360 game on the day of its launch.

She scratched her ticket and scanned it on her phone for her chance to spin the price wheel.

“I tapped the screen on my phone and the wheel started going and when it stopped it said, MEGA 360,” said Gale, who had no idea of the new game’s prize structure or the significance of her win.

It was only after contacting ALC that she learned she would have the opportunity to spin the game’s big prize wheel.

“I asked where the wheel was and she told me it was in Moncton, so I said, ‘But I’m in Corner Brook,’ but she said, ‘Well we are bringing you to

Moncton to spin the wheel!’”

Mega 360 is Atlantic Lottery’s first ‘Scratch, Watch and Spin’ game, available as both a Scratch’N Win ticket in retail stores and an instant win game on alc.ca. Players can scratch or click their digital game to unlock a spin on the tiny, animated wheel. Landing on Mega 360 grants them the chance to spin the wheel in person at ALC headquarters.

“It didn’t feel real until I walked in the door, seeing the big wheel,” Gale said of her spin late last month.

Prizes on the big wheel range from $100,000 to $500,000.

With plans to retire in the coming year, she intends to share the prize with her immediate family for a vacation.

Her visit to Moncton also allowed her to reunite with her daughters living in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Gale purchased her winning Mega 360 ticket at the Confederation Drive Circle K in Corner Brook. The retailer will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
