Review of Municipal Plan and Development Regulations for Town of Rocky Harbour

The Council of the Town of Rocky Harbour is undertaking a complete review of the Municipal Plan and Development Regulations (the “plans”). The last time a full review was done was ten years ago, resulting in the term of the existing plans being 2013 to 2023. The existing plans stay in place until they are replaced by the new ones, but it is timely to do this now as some matters concerning development have changed significantly in the last ten years.

Last March, a presentation on the existing plans was made by Council’s planning consultant so that interested people could be reminded of what is already in place before starting to suggest changes. Since then, Council has worked with the consultant to develop draft plans to address the opportunities and circumstances affecting future development of the community.

A public presentation of the draft plans will be held as noted below. The draft Municipal Plan includes the background information which helped shape the new plans. There will be opportunity for those attending to make suggestions and to ask questions. That presentation will take place at:

7:00 pm, Monday, 4 December, 2023, at the Rocky Harbour Community Hall 24-26 Pioneer Lane, Rocky Harbour NL

The draft Municipal Plan and Development Regulations are available for reading by either:

a) Contacting the Council office by phone (709) 458-2376 or email at info@rockyharbour.ca to have them sent to you as pdf files by email.

b) Going to the Town office at 73 Main Street North, Rocky Harbour, during office hours to see the documents in printed form.

Please note that this is not the official public hearing required pursuant to the Urban and Rural Planning Act 2000, which will be held at a later step in the process.
