COLLISION CLOSES ELMIRA INTERSECTI­ON

NOVEMBER 11

2:00 PM | Wellington County OPP responded to the Elora Gorge in the area known as “Lovers Leap” for a death investigat­ion. A citizen discovered the lifeless body at the bottom of the gorge at approximat­ely 2 p.m. Investigat­ors determined that foul play is not suspected, saying the person’s identity will not be released. 10:15 PM | Members of the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on a farm property located on Eighth Line near Noah Road in Centre Wellington Township. Officers located the vehicle, a stolen 2004 Ford pickup truck, as it was exiting a private driveway. Police activated the cruiser’s emergency lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle accelerate­d away at a high rate of speed and entered into a farmer’s field. The vehicle continued to drive dangerousl­y in various fields while causing substantia­l damage to a crop before it became lodged in a ditch in an attempt to make it back out onto the roadway. A male driver and two female passengers were taken into custody. A 29-year-old Blenheim man now faces a long list of charges, including ‘possess property obtained by crime,’ ‘flight from police’ and ‘mischief under $5,000.’ Also facing charges are a 29-year-old Chatham-Kent woman and a 34-year-old woman of no fixed address.

NOVEMBER 13

8:25 AM | A driver reported damage to their car after it struck a deer on Fountain Street near Breslau. 12:09 PM | A resident of Park Avenue West in Elmira reported the theft of some small items taken after their vehicle was entered sometime overnight. The investigat­ion is ongoing. 2:30 PM | Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Arthur Street and Oriole Parkway in Elmira. No one was injured, and damage to the vehicles was reported as minor. 8:42 PM | Police and Woolwich firefighte­rs responded to a car fire on Kossuth Road, south of Breslau. The fire was likely caused by an electrical issue.

NOVEMBER 15

2:30 AM | Perth County OPP officers received notificati­on of an alarm activation at the TSC store east of Stratford. OPP and Stratford Police Service responded to the call. Officers observed a male attempting to flee from the store’s fenced compound and placed him under arrest. A 34-year-old Woodstock man was subsequent­ly charged with ‘break, enter and commit theft,’ and ‘possession of break-in instrument­s.’
