Woolwich OKs kennel bid
The pitter-patter of paws is a ways off, but the way has been cleared for a new breeding kennel at a Lobsinger Line farm.
Meeting this week, Woolwich council approved an application from Amon B. Martin to operate a breeding operation with up to 25 dogs at 1861 Lobsinger Line.
He’s been running a similar operation in Wellesley Township since 2004, housing a mixed breed of cockapoo puppies. Having inspected that site, Woolwich staff had no problem recommending approval, said clerk Val Hummel to councillors on Tuesday night.
In response to questions about potential noise and its impact on neighbours, Martin said he would consider measures such as a fence or berms if any issues arise with the operation.
Hummel noted the township would be monitoring the operation once it’s up and running.
“Staff took the opinion of ‘let’s build it and see what happens.’”
Before that time, however, Martin needs approval for his plans to construct a kennel facility, including a building permit and inspection of the completed structure, before applying for the formal kennel licence.
