Construction delays, the result of the cold winter weather, have pushed back the Elmira Raceway’s move to Elora until the fall. The change means there will be no horse racing at the new Grand River Raceway this season – all racing will take place at Elmira, although the season will be shorter because of the pending move. The Woolwich Agricultural Society, owners of the operation, had expected a summer opening, allowing a mid-season transfer of racing.
