Rank athlete of the year nominee

Elmira›s Garrett Rank was one of the athletes nominated this week for the annual Athlete of the Year Award for Waterloo Region.

Rank has found success in both golf and hockey. He was the Canadian Mid-Amateur champion for three years running. And when he›s not hitting the links he›s a full-time NHL referee, a gig he started in 2016.

The other seven nominees are Alec Elliot, Darryl Fitzgerald, Alyssa Lagonia, Jamal Murray, Mark Scheifele, Dhane Smith and Kevin Sorley.
