ROLLOVER CLOSES GERBER ROAD IN WELLESLEY

11:40 PM | Emergency personnel responded to a report of a man injured on Highway 7 near the Guelph-Woolwich Townline. Multiple witnesses advised that the man had been holding onto the side of an unidentified black Ford Escape SUV with running-boards and roof-rack. The male was injured and was transported to a local hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that the injured man was in possession of a quantity of illicit drugs. As a result, the 33-year-old Kitchener resident was charged with ‘possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule 1 - crystal methamphetamine,’ ‘possession of schedule 1 - cocaine,’ ‘pos- session of schedule 2 - cannabis marijuana under 30g,’ and ‘possession of a schedule 1 – hydromorphone.’ He has also been charged with ‘failing to comply with a recognizance of a justice’ set out on Mar. 31 in the City of Stratford. Police are still looking to identify the driver and the vehicle involved in this incident. 7:00 PM | Emergency workers responded to a collision between a motorcycle and a horse-drawn wagon near Milverton. Investigators determined that a motorcyclist was travelling southbound on Road 124 when he encountered a horse-drawn carriage that was entering onto the roadway from a private lane. The driver of the motorcycle collided with the horse and was transported from the scene by land ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries, later requiring the 53-year-old Milverton man to be transferred by air ambulance to a hospital in London. The occupants of the horse-drawn carriage were uninjured. The horse sustained an undetermined injury. 8:00 PM | A Mapleton man faces a drinking-and-driving charge after being stopped on Highway 6 north of Fergus. Police stopped the 28-year-old man’s vehicle after it was observed accelerating at a high rate of speed. While speaking with the driver, the officer believed the man had consumed alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted, and resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing. As a result, he was charged with ‘over 80 mgs’ and with ‘suspended driving.’ He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 2. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
