The ideal sandwich for your picnic basket

- CHEF’S TABLE/ DONNA GINGRICH

SUMMER CALLS FOR PICNICS, whether simple with a blanket and wicker basket or elaborate with lace and china and flowers, it does not matter. Picnics are fun and a great excuse to linger over food.

Have you noticed that food tastes better when eaten outdoors? So does coffee! (Yes, I take coffee on all my picnics.)

This sandwich loaf is scrumptious and will not get soggy before you get to where you are going and find a perfect spot. You can use different meats and cheeses than what is listed here, but be sure to use the cream cheese because that is what makes the sandwich. This recipe makes two loaves, but if you need one loaf use only half of each ingredient.

So pick a beautiful setting and pack up a picnic with friends for a memorable time!
