Jacks’ direc­tor dies in col­li­sion

Paul MacDon­ald, a mem­ber of the Welles­ley Ap­ple­jacks’ board of direc­tors who was in charge of game-day op­er­a­tions, died last week in a mo­tor­cy­cle ac­ci­dent while on va­ca­tion in Ten­nessee. He was 63.

“It is a sad day for the Welles­ley Ap­ple­jacks and the com­mu­nity of Welles­ley. Paul MacDon­ald, one of our own, passed away to­day. He was a key mem­ber of our Board of Direc­tors and the face of our Game Day Op­er­a­tions. His kind spirit, quick wit and his sense of fun made every­one around him smile. He will be in­cred­i­bly missed. Our hearts are bro­ken. Our thoughts and prayers are with his fam­ily,” the Jacks said in a state­ment.

MacDon­ald, an em­ployee of the Re­gion of Water­loo, was said to of had a great wit and sense of hu­mour, and could be seen to en­joy friends, fam­ily and his two grand­sons.

A cel­e­bra­tion of life will be held on Satur­day from 1-4 p.m. at the Welles­ley Com­mu­nity Cen­tre.
