Glasgow Street bridge closure

-

The Sawmill Road/Northfield Drive intersection has re-opened – though work remains to be done – but the construction woes continue in Conestogo. Sawmill Road is closed from Misty River Drive to the bridge by the golf course.

Access to the Glasgow Street bridge has been restricted at times, and now the structure will be closed for four days starting on Tuesday (Sept. 12) if all goes to plan. This time, the closure is unrelated to the Region of Waterloo construction project, as it’s a Woolwich Township move needed to conduct a detailed inspection of the 19th century steel span. There will also be tar-andchip repairs to the bridge deck.

The inspection is part of an environmental assessment being done as the township explores longer-term options for the structure.
