2:30 AM | Members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on Highway 7 at Woolwich/Guelph Townline when the driver of a 2007 Lexus entered the checkpoint. While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted, resulting in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing. As a result, a 32-year-old London man was charged with ‘driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood’ and ‘novice driver with blood-alcohol above zero.’ A 90-day driver’s licence and seven-day vehicle impoundment were enacted. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Provincial Court on November 28.
