Their latest potpourri features music from Broadway hits including Oklahoma!, The Light in the Piazza, Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast and Smokey Joe’s Cafe. Why: The annual independent music awards ceremony for Vancouver Island musicians will unveil edition No. 11 this weekend at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church — a beautiful room perfectly matched to this array of homegrown heroes. The event, which will be hosted by local comedian Morgan Cranny, will showcase a number of nominated acts competing for more than a dozen awards. Sue Medley, Dave Cormier, Dope Soda and Jonny Miller lead the list of multiple nominees.
