The KidSport Victoria chapter is part of a national and provincial network of communityb­ased volunteer groups, and is among the biggest in the country. Since 2002, KidSport Greater Victoria has raised and distribute­d over $1.5 million to more than 7,500 local children in need. To keep up with increasing demand and keep administra­tive costs low, the organizati­on relies on a core of administra­tive volunteers. KidSport is looking for a volunteer with general computer knowledge including Excel, Access and social media familiarit­y, as well as strong communicat­ion skills and pleasant telephone manner. Experience with Facebook and Twitter is an asset. Duties are primarily inoffice administra­tive tasks and tasks related to grant applicatio­ns from families requesting funding support. This is an onsite role for two to four hours per week, depending on the tasks due at the time. Customer service volunteer: The Victoria Global Village Store, which supports co-operative and self-help groups in their efforts to make a living through alter- native trade, is looking for a customer service and cashier volunteer to assist with operating their store for one three- to fourhour shift per week. ChoirKids volunteer: Choir Kids is seeking volunteers to assist with weekly children’s choirs in four local elementary schools. Volunteers assist the choir director by distributi­ng snacks following the practice and helping the children fully participat­e in choir. Our Place volunteers:

Our Place is planning to extend their winter hours to serve Victoria’s most vulnerable. This unique, inner-city community centre provides over 1,500 meals per day, hot showers, education, job skills, free clothing, counsellin­g and outreach services, plus 45 transition­al housing units. Seniors volunteers: Seniors Serving Seniors is seeking vol- unteers to provide social support and encouragem­ent to isolated and lonely seniors following hospitaliz­ation. Volunteers will receive training and working tools to address age-related issues. Training begins in October 2015 on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for seven weeks.
