Man who dropped pants jailed

- CAM FORTEMS

KAMLOOPS — Dropping his pants in front of a neighbour has earned a Kamloops man 140 days in jail.

James Doll has also been ordered to pay a $500 fine after pleading guilty to incident exposure and breach of probation.

Crown prosecutor Mike Wong told court Doll knew his neighbour and showed up at her house on Aug. 11 when she was on her balcony.

He was drunk, asked for beer, and became increasingly insistent, Wong said. “She told Mr. Doll: ‘You’ve got to go home because I’ve got to get up at 5 a.m.,’ ” Wong told court.

Doll left, but returned a short time later. The woman told police he began pacing back and forth, then sat on a chair and stared at her.

Wong said the woman told RCMP: “He just stood up, dropped his pants and put his junk right in my face.”

She told Doll to leave. He apologized and left her home.

Wong said the woman debated for several days before calling police.

At the time, Doll was on a conditional sentence for a marijuana-trafficking offence in Alberta.

A court order prevented him from drinking alcohol or taking non-prescription medicine.

Provincial court Judge Chris Cleaveley agreed to the Crown’s request to revoke the conditional-sentence order and send Doll to jail for the remainder of the term.

Defence lawyer Jeremy Knight said Doll acknowledges his problems with drugs and alcohol and has sought counselling. In addition to drinking that night, Doll had taken ecstasy.

“He’s incredibly ashamed,” Knight said. “There’s no sexual motive to this at all. It’s more of a highly sophomoric, immature prank.”

Doll is a roofer and wants to start his own company. He supports two children who do not live with him, the court was told.
